The North-East Centre offers a one-year Post Graduate Diploma in Statistical Methods and Analytics. This programme is open to candidates from all over India. However, 50 percent of the total number of seats is reserved for the domiciled students of the North-Eastern states of India. This programme is conducted in two semesters with five courses in each semester.
Scope
The course is intended to provide students with a comprehensive training in basic theory and applications of Statistical Methods and Analytics, in addition to some exposure to Mathematics and Computer Science. It is so designed that on successful completion, the students will be able to take up jobs as statisticians in such departments of government and industries where application of Statistics is required.
Eligibility
An applicant must possess (i) Bachelor's degree in any discipline with Mathematics as a subject or (ii) (a) BE/B.Tech degree or (b) any other qualification considered equivalent (such as AMIE). The domiciled candidates from the North-Eastern states must also have a domicile certificate of North-Eastern states from a recognized authority.
Selection Procedure
Selection is based on academic records and performance in a written test and an interview. The written test consists of multiple-choice and/or short-answer questions in Basic Mathematics at pass/minor level of Bachelor's degree.
Stipend and Contingency Grant
There are no tuition fees for the programme. Only the domiciled students of the North-Eastern states would receive a monthly stipend of Rs.3000/- and an annual contingency grant of Rs.3000/-. Students will have to make their own arrangements for accommodation since the Institute will not be able to provide hostel facilities.
